Rapid Injury Unit
The Mater Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic @ Charter Medical is a public facility for the assessment and treatment of minor injuries, operated by The Mater Misericordiae Hospital.
No appointment or GP referral required for the public to be treated here
We have a dedicated minor injury stream of the emergency department located in Smithfield in Dublin 7. The unit is staffed with specialist advanced nurse practitioners working alongside emergency medicine registrars and senior physiotherapists in order provide optimal care for our patients.
What We Treat
- Minor burns and scalds
- Foreign bodies
- Minor chest injuries
- Minor head injuries
- Suspected broken bones to arm (from collar bone to fingertip)
- Sprains and strains
- Wounds, bites (animal or insect) cuts, grazes, and scalp lacerations
The unit sees approximately 50 patients per day and has developed a reputation for excellence throughout the city.
