Sepsis
Sepsis is a common, life threatening presentations to the ED.
It, of course, has multiple different causes, from common ones like pneumonia and urinary infections to less common infections like cholangitis or meningococcal sepsis.
The important point is recognition of sepsis as a syndrome and implementing a small number of interventions rapidly that have been shown to improve outcomes.
Sepsis is an ED disease and it is our responsibility to identify it and commence treatment.
