I was told about this by one of my old bosses in Aus the other week. I’ve used it a couple of times since with good effect.
Some of you may have heard about this – the “Easy (or quick) IJ”.
It is for stable patients requiring IV access, in whom you do not want to insert a CVC or IO. Basically – an 18G peripheral IV into the IJ while the patient performs a Valslava manoeuvre. No significant complications. It’s quick and easy and very much applicable to our patient population.
